Wendy Erskine
Dance Move
Wendy Erskine is one of the most highly praised short story writers working today. Her new collection, Dance Move, came out in the EU in early 2022, but does not yet have a Canadian release date. I’m happy to be the first store in Toronto to offer the title, which were supplied to me directly from the author.
About the Author
Wendy Erskine lives in Belfast. Her debut collection, Sweet Home, was published by The Stinging Fly Press in Sept 2018 and Picador in 2019, and has been translated into Italian and Arabic and optioned for TV.
Her second collection, Dance Move, was published in 2022, and received glowing reviews:
“A propulsive second collection [of] stories [that] go straight to the emotional core.” — The Guardian
“It’s so difficult to write a front-to-back decent short story collection, let alone a great one. [She]’s done it twice now.” — Chris Power
“Wendy Erskine is the greatest short story writer of her generation. Dance Move is a masterpiece.” — David Keenan
Erskine and Volver
Frustrated at not being able to find Dance Move in Toronto indie book stores (or at Amazon.ca, Audible, Indigo, or the TPL), I imported a copy for myself and loved it as much as I did Erskine’s first collection, Sweet Home.
Figuring other Toronto readers might also want a copy of Dance Move of their own, I reached out to Wendy and she agreed to supply me with copies.
